The Beatles...

Post by jodlyn »

I know I've posted these lyrics before, but I thought of them while sitting by the lake late one night. The moon was rising, and the stars were out by the millions. This song just seemed to fit!

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I remember I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I’ll love you more

In my life I’ll love you more
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Bon Jovi and Sugarland...Who Says You Can't Go Home!

Post by jodlyn »

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx0V7R1VZQw

I've spent 20 years tryin to get out of this place
I was looking for something I couldn't replace
I was runnin' away from the only thing I've ever known
and like a blind dog without a bone
I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone
I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold

I've been there done that and I aint lookin' back on the seeds Ive sown.
saving dimes, spending too much time on the telephone....
who says you can't go home

who says you can't go home
there's only one place they call me one of their own
Just a hometown boy born a rolling stone
who says you can't go home

who says you can't go back been all around the world and as a matter of fact
there's only one place left I wanna go
who says you can't go home
it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

I went as far as I could try'in to find a new face
There isn't one of these lines that I would erase
I left a million miles of memories on that road
and every step I take I know that I'm not alone
You take the home from the boy but not the boy from his home
these are my streets the only life I've ever known
Who says you can't go home

who says you can't go home
there's only one place they call me one of their own
just a hometown boy born a rolling stone
who says you can't go home

who says you can't go back been all around the world and as a matter of fact
there's only one place left I wanna go
who says you can't go home

Guitar(solo)

Doesn't matter where you are
Doesn't matter where you go
If it's a million miles away
or just a mile up the road
take it in, take it with you when you go
who says you can't go home

who says you can't go back
been all around the world
and as a matter of fact
there's only one place left I wanna go
who says you can't go home
its alright, its alright, its alright, its alright, its alright

who says you can't go home
it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

who says you can't go home
it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

Who says you can't go home!
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Your Heart Will Lead You Home by Kenny Loggins

Post by jodlyn »

Papa posted this on the song association thread over on Imdb. I hope he doesn't mind if I put it here. It's such a beautiful song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Da0y5rjb8k

Isn't it great how music can inspire and make you feel good even when you're crying over the words. :)

Sunny days and starry nights and lazy afternoons
You're counting castles in the clouds and humming little tunes.
But somehow right before your eyes the sun fades away,
Everything is different and everything has changed

If you feel you lost
And on your own
And far from home
You're never alone you know
Just think of your friends
The ones who care
They all will be waiting there
With love to share
And your heart will lead you home

Funny how a photograph
Can take you back in time
To places and races that you thought you'd left behind
Trying to remind you that you're not the only one
That no-one is an island when all is said and done

If you feel you lost
And on your own
And far from home
You're never alone you know
Just think of your friends
The ones who care
They all will be waiting there
With love to share
And your heart will lead you home

There'll come a day when you're losing your way
And you won't know where you belong
They say that home is where the heart is
So follow your heart and know that you can't go wrong.

If you feel you lost
And on your own
And far from home
You're never alone you know
Just think of your friends
The ones who care
They all will be waiting there
With love to share
And your heart will lead you ...

If you feel you lost
And on your own
And far from home
You're never alone you know
Just think of your friends
The ones who care
They all will be waiting there
With love to share
And your heart will lead you ...
where you belong ...
I know your heart will lead you home.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Sugar and Spice - The Cryan' Shames

Post by tmac396 »

Listening to records last night and dug this gem out. Most people are more familiar with the Searchers' version, but I much prefer the Cryan' Shames'(from Chigago) version for the soaring harmonies.

SUGAR AND SPICE
(Fred Nightingale)

Sugar and spice and all things nice
Kisses sweeter than wine
Sugar and spice and all things nice
You know that little girl is mine

Everybody stops and stares at my baby
When she's walkin' down the street
People passin' by just look at my baby
'cause my baby looks so sweet
You know she's..

Sugar and spice and all things nice
Kisses sweeter than wine
Sugar and spice and all things nice
You know that little girl is mine

Everytime we kiss I get that feelin'
Everytime we simply meet
When I see her smile I get that feelin'
'cause my baby looks so sweet
You know she's..

Sugar and spice and all things nice
Kisses sweeter than wine
Sugar and spice and all things nice
You know that little girl is mine

Never ever known a girl so lovely
Sweet enough to want to eat
Everybody's crazy 'bout my baby
'cause my baby looks so sweet
You know she's..

Sugar and spice and all things nice
Kisses sweeter than wine
Sugar and spice and all things nice
You know that little girl is mine
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Must Be Doing Something Right by Billy Currington

Post by jodlyn »

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8-MrHesljE

I saw this video on the Country Music Channel tonight. Whew!

A woman is a mystery
A man just cant understand
Sometimes all it takes to please her
Is the touch of your hand
N' Other times you got to take it slow
And hold her all night long
Heaven knows there's so many ways
A man can go wrong

Must be doin' somethin' right
I just heard ya sigh
N' Lean into my kiss
And close those deep blue need to eyes
Don't know what I did
To earn a love like this
But baby I must be doin' somethin' right

Anywhere you wanna go
Baby show me the way
I'm open to suggestions
Mmm whatever you say
Tonight's about givin' you what you want
Whatever it takes
Girl I hope i'm on the right road
Judgin by the smile on your face

Must be doin' somethin' right
I just heard ya sigh
N' Lean into my kiss
And close those deep blue need to eyes
Don't know what I did
To earn a love like this
But baby I must be doin' somethin' right
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Possession by Sarah McLachlan

Post by jodlyn »

I love her voice. Her songs are so haunting and lovely.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IQLg0auZfQ

Possession

Listen as the wind blows
from across the great divide,
Voices trapped in yearning,
memories trapped in time,
The night is my companion
and solitude my guide,
Would I spend forever here
and not be satisfied,

And I would be the one
to hold you down,
kiss you so hard,
I'll take your breath away
and after I'd wipe away the tears,
Just close your eyes dear

Through this world I've stumbled
so many times betrayed,
Trying to find an honest word,
to find the truth enslaved,
Oh you speak to me in riddles and
you speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath,
your words keep me alive,

And I would be the one
to hold you down,
kiss you so hard,
I'll take your breath away
and after I'd wipe away the tears,
Just close your eyes dear

Into this night I wander,
it's morning that I dread,
Another day of knowing of
the path I fear to tread,
Oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride,
Nothing stands between us here
and I won't be denied,

And I would be the one
to hold you down,
kiss you so hard,
I'll take your breath away
and after I'd wipe away the tears,
Just close your eyes dear...
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

For Everyone Here

"Friends" - Elton John (Lyrics by Bernie Taupin)

I hope the day will be a lighter highway
For friends are found on every road
Can you ever think of any better way
For the lost and weary travellers to go

Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand you will see the light
If your friends are there then everythings all right

It seems to me a crime that we should age
These fragile times should never slip us by
A time you never can or shall erase
As friends together watch their childhood fly

Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand you will see the light
If your friends are there then everythings all right
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

"Life is Just a Tire Swing" by Jimmy Buffett

Post by tmac396 »

Well...it WAS once! :D

JIMMY BUFFETT lyrics - "Life Is Just A Tire Swing"

I remember the smell of the creosote plant,
When we'd have to eat on Easter with my
Crazy old uncle and aunt.
They lived in a big house Ante Bellum style,
And the wind would blow across the old bayou,
And I was a tranquil little child.

Life was just a tire swing.
'Jambalaya' was the only song I could sing.
Blackberry pickin', eatin' fried chicken,
And I never knew a thing about pain.
Life was just a tire swing.

In a few summers my folks packed me off to camp;
Yeah, me and my cousin' Baxter
In our pup tent with a lamp.
And in a few days Baxter went home,
And he left me by myself.
And I knew that I'd stay, it was better that way,
And I could get along without any help.
Life was just a tire swing.

And I've never been west of New Orleans
Nor east of Pensacola.
My only contact with the outside
world was a n R.C.A. Victrola.
Elvis would sing and then I'd dream about
expensive cars, and who would've figured twenty
years later I'd be rubbing shoulders with the stars.
Life was just a tire swing.

'Jambalaya' was the only song I could sing.
Chasin' after sparrows with rubber tip arrows,
Knowin' I could never hurt a thing,
And life was just a tire swing.

Then the other morning on some Illinois road
I fell asleep at the wheel,
But was quickly wakened up by a 'Ma Bell'
telephone pole, and a bunch of Grant Wood
Faces screaming, 'Is he still alive?'
But through the window could see
it hangin' from a tree, and I knew
I had survived.

Life was just a tire swing.
Jambalaya's still the best song that I can sing.
Blackberry pickin', eatin' fried chicken,
And I finally learned a lot about pain,
'cause life is just a tire swing.
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

In The Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening by Bing Crosby

Post by jodlyn »

Words by Johnny Mercer and music by Hoagy Carmichael. Arranged by Nelson Riddle. Quite a collaboration here.

It seemed appropriate today. Happy Weekend everyone! :5170:

Sue wants a barbecue, Sam wants to boil a ham,
Grace votes for bouillabaisse too
Jake wants a weinie bake, steak and the layer cake,
And he'll get a tummy ache too.
We'll rent a tent or a teepee, let the town crier cry.
And if it's R.S.V.P., this is what I'll reply.

In the cool, cool, cool of the evening, tell 'em I'll be there,
In the cool, cool, cool of the evening, better save a chair.
Oh, when the party's a-getting a glow on, and singing fills the air,
In the shank of the night when the doing's all right,
You can tell 'em I'll be there.

Oh when the party's a-getting a glow on, and the singing fills the air,
In the shank of the night when the doing's all right,
You can tell them I'll be there.
In the shank of the night when the doing's all right,
You can tell them I'll be there.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Post by jodlyn »

I really like this group!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO672ERu ... ed&search=

Don’t you want dive on in? Yeah the water feels right
Dancing on the edge of love you’re a beautiful sight
So why you still standing there in the half moon light?

Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more you

You’re batting those baby blues and honey I swear
The way you got me needing you girl it just ain’t fair
You’ve given me a little bit yeah but don’t stop there

Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more you

I’m here falling for ya my heart’s calling for ya
I know I never can get enough
Don’t hold back one bit of your love
Strong and steady for ya I’m all ready

Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more

You’re teasing me with a touch and the whole world shakes
Keep holding that river back and the levee may break
There’s only so much of this a boy can take

Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more you

I’m here falling for ya my heart’s calling for ya
I know I never can get enough
Don’t hold back one bit of your love
Strong and steady for ya I’m all ready

Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more you
Come on baby give me a little more
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

....suddenly I felt an affinity with this song. :P

Madness Not Madness - by Madness

I've never had much cause for worry
And I've not got a lot to say
You'll never find me in a hurry
Because I live my life day by day

People say that I'm crazy
But I'm not that way inclined
I know what I know and I'll happily show
That madness is all in the mind

Twenty-four hours is all that I care for
I believe that's the only way
Twenty-four hours is all that is needed
Because I live my life day by day

People say that I'm crazy
But I'm not that way inclined
I know what I know and I'll happily show
That madness is all in the mind

I'm happy the way that I do things
Continually feeling okay
I've no worries on what tomorrow brings
Because I live my life day by day

People say that I'm crazy
But I'm not that way inclined
I know what I know and I'll happily show
That madness is all in the mind

Well some men seek answers in bottles
And others in degenerate ways
But I don't care much for the question
Madness is all in the mind
Madness is all in the mind
Madness is all in the mind
Madness is all in the mind
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

If You're Reading This, I'm Already Home by Tim McGraw

Post by jodlyn »

I just heard this song. I was sitting at a red light and the tears were just rolling down my cheeks.

God bless all of the troops no matter where they hail from!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-o9aCoe ... ed&search=

If you’re reading this…and my mama’s sitting there-
Looks like I only got a one-way ticket over here.

Sure wish I…could give you one more kiss-
War was just a game we played when we were kids.

Well, I’m laying down my gun…I’m hanging up my boots-
I’m up here with God and we’re both watching over you.

So lay me down…in that open field out on the edge of town-
And know my soul…is where my mama always prayed they’d ever go…
If you’re reading this –
I’m already home.

If you’re reading this…half way round the world-
I won’t be there to see the birth of our little girl.

I hope she looks like you…I hope she fights like me-
And stands up for the innocent and the weak.

I’m laying down my gun…I’m hanging up my boots-
Tell dad I don’t regret that I followed in his shoes.

So lay me down…in that open field out on the edge of town-
And know my soul…is where my mama always prayed they’d ever go…
If you’re reading this –
I’m already home.

If you’re reading this…there’s gonna come a day-
When you’ll move on and find someone else and that’s okay.

Just remember this…I’m in a better place-
Where soldiers live in peace and angels sing amazing grace.

So lay me down…in that open field out on the edge of town-
And know my soul…is where my mama always prayed they’d ever go…
If you’re reading this –
I’m already home.

A year or so ago, this song would have made me cry...

... But I was listening to my iPod as we cleaned up last night, and this one came on. And made me smile, thinking of how MamaMouse is "watching [me] from above".

I'll Be There - The Escape Club

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9mEYZxkDsM

over Mountains
over Trees
over Oceans
over Seas
across the desert
I'll be there

in a whisper on the wind
on the smile of a new friend
just think of me
And I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
to be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
but I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I'll be there

On the edge of a waking dream
over Rivers
over Streams
through Wind and Rain
I'll be there

Across the wide and open sky
thousands of miles I'd fly
to be with you
I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
to be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
but I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I'll be there

In the breath of a wind that sighs
oh, there's no need to cry

Just think of me,
And I'll be there
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Magic Man by Heart

Post by jodlyn »

I posted this link on another thread, but I like it so much, I'm posting it here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Wa0alIW ... ed&search=

Cold late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
Oh one man came to me
Never seen eyes so blue
You know I could not run away
It seemed we'd seen each other in a dream
It seemed like he knew me
He looked right through me, yeah
"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me and
Let's get high awhile
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try try try to understand
I'm a magic man."

Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
Never think of never
Let this spell last forever
Summer lover passed to fall
Tried to realize it all
Mama says she's worried
Growing up in a hurry, yeah
"Come on home, girl" mama cried on the phone
"Too soon to lose my baby and my girl should be at home!"
"But try to understand, try to understand
Try try try to understand
He's a magic man, mama, ah ...
He's a magic man"

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child!
But try to understand, try to understand, oh ... oh ...
Try to understand
Try try try to understand
He's a magic man!" oh yeah
Oh, you've got the magic hands

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me and
Let's get high awhile
But try to understand
Try to understand
Try try try to understand
He's a magic man." yeah ... oh ... :1301:
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!
