Spooky - Classics IV

Post by fiona »

I couldn't find an original video of this one, but here is the best I could do...

I listened to this today before I launched into the '80s compilation album that's sitting beside me just aching to be put on the turntable. :P
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

When I Get To Where I'm Going: Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton

Post by jodlyn »

It's on my Sirius videos this morning. It's such a beautiful song especially during a time when many don't profess a belief in live after death or love going on.

I'm glad there's still people who do believe!

When I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of his amazing grace!

Beloved Uncle
Lay your troubles down
You're in the arms of the angels
May you find some comfort there
And Rest in Peace now! :(

One Less Set of Footsteps by Jim Croce

His cd was played at the family get together yesterday, and I liked hearing them so much, I'm putting his songs on my MP3 player. His anniversary Cd is one of the best presents I've ever gotten.

St Matthew - The Monkees

Post by PapaMouse »

from Missing Links, vol 2. (Not the well-known Monkees songs you usually hear on the radio.)

And now my iPod (which is on "shuffle") has switched over to "Death of Ase" from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

I'm Looking Through You - The Posies

Post by fiona »

I really know very little about this band but this Beatles track I have by them is so well done, I have to listen to it more than once every time.

Sorry I couldn't find a video for it.

Some people hated this song, but I really like it. It's one which makes you want to boogie all over the floor.

Josh Rouse

I discovered this guy quite by accident today on a compilation I got with a magazine. I was suitably impressed with his "Street Lights" but sadly can't find a video for it. Here is his "Love Vibration" though...

"Golden Brown" - The Stranglers

Post by fiona »

This takes me back! Hard to believe this lot were a pretty wild punk/new wave group but delivered this as their biggest hit as far as I know.

It's playing on my Mp3 player. I love the harmony between Josh Turner and Trisha Yearwood. Very pretty song!

Cover Me by Bruce Springsteen

From his "Born in the U.S." album. I love this song and his live performances. He and his band really know how to rock a crowd especially Clarence Clemons on that saxophone.

Darkness, Darkness by the Youngbloods...

Post by jodlyn »

While looking for a song for another thread, I found this one. I remember this song from the Youngbloods. It's one of those which sticks in your mind.

"Metaphor", from the original cast Cd of The Fanta

Post by PapaMouse »

Can't find a YouTube video for the song. No surprise there! When it comes to The Fantasticks, most people think of "Try To Remember", "Soon It's Gonna Rain", or even "I Can See It". But not "Metaphor". That's a pity. It's such a lovely little love song.

Love! You are love!
Better far than a metaphor
Can ever, ever be.
Love! You are love!
My mystery of love!

By the by, one of the original cast members was a young, nearly-unknown actor by the name of Jerry Orbach. And The Fantasticks was the second-longest-running play in the world. It was the longest-running musical in the world, and the longest-running play of any kind in the USA. It opened in May of 1960, and ran nonstop until January of 2002. That's more than 40 years! The only play to run longer anywhere in the world is The Mousetrap which opened in London, in November of 1952, and is still running!!

Quite possibly my favorite Beatles song...
