I HAD to do it! Hometown girl Bobbie Gentry makes good! The old bridge in this video was located not too far from my house until a tornado took it out several years ago. :(
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

That is so sad

So many of these places have been taken from us, but at least there are the memories. The good thing is you're still here to tell the tale.:7207:

Of course the wonderful "Ode to Billy Joe" makes up for it in a small way too. :D
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

It was so sleepy and dusty yesterday,...

...that I forgot to post on this thread. :9449: But it's cool and rainy today (still a little sleepy, though), so I'm posting now.

Happy belated Gentry Day, Feenoters.

Happy Belated Birthday, Ms. Gentry.

Did you know she worked as a department store model? I remember those! :)

It was the 3rd of June...

...another sleepy, rainy Grand Strand day.

And it occurs to me that not only did Bobbie Gentry mention this date in a song, but so did Neil Diamond:

It was the 3rd of June, on that summer's day,
When I became a man at the hands of a girl
Almost twice my age.
