"Blinded by the Light"

Post by dmsesquire »

For years, I thought they were singing, "Ripped up like a douche/Another rover in the night". :P

Sometimes, spelling is everything.

I've heard the Stones' "19th Nervous Breakdown" a couple of times recently, and it reminded me that, when the song first came out, I had no idea what "ceiling wax" was. How (and why) would you put wax on the ceiling? :17418:

Found out later (when it was a fad in the US) what "sealing wax" really was. :9449:

Groovin' (Who is Leslie, anyway?)

Post by PapaMouse »

I actually heard a DJ ask that question, and it made me realize I wasn't the only one who mis-heard the line:
That would be ecstasy,
You and me endlessly Groovin'
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Four hundred? No wonder she left him!

Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man".

Sometimes, it sounds to me like he's singing "secret Asian man". Makes me wonder if he looks like an Asian woman, or if he just doesn't look Asian. (I'd opt for the latter, as it makes him more of a "secret Asian".

Another possibility (thanks to a Pat Morita series) is that he has a name that doesn't sound Asian. Like Ohara.

Taio Cruz - "Dynamite"

The lyrics say "I throw my hands up in the air sometimes, Saying ayo, Gotta let go!"

One day I was driving my grandson home, and this song came on the truck radio. I was singing when he started giggling and pointing at me. The he says, "Grandma...he's not singing GALILEO...he's singing Gotta Let Go!"

I actually thought he was singing Galileo..LOL!
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

(I don't even know who sang it.) There are lyrics that go
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
When I heard it, it sounded to me like he was saying "...but I won't fall. I am Canadian."

For the longest time, I thought he was singing "I can't cope with that". Instead of "I Can't Go For That".

Okay, I’ve never really listened to this song, but I’ve heard bits of it. The part I “know” goes “Oppa Gangnam style”. But until I looked up the lyrics, I thought it sounded like “Wolfman, gangland style!”
