Now it's the Best of the Moody Blues...

Post by jodlyn »

I dug my old music out and converted it. Now I have it on my Mp3 player, and I'll be listening to it all evening. That darn Yahoo messenger music station bringing back so many memories!!! :)

Excellent taste in music my dear! I'm going to convert my old vinyl one of these days so I can listen to it in the car. I just have so much I don't know where to start! Today I'm listening to more of my "Nuggets" collection. Man, this is some good stuff!

......Manfred Mann's Earth Band's Greatest Hits. :17091:

This lot have been in my Top 5 bands since I first heard them back in the day. Now leave me to immerse myself in one of my guilty pleasures. :682:

They're good. My guilty pleasure is the "Backstreet Boys" but they don't come close to Mann.

I'm downloading a Miles Davis/John Coltrane greatest hits cd. I love their blend of smoky jazz and blues.

Queensrÿche

Currently in the CD player: Hear In the Now Frontier, which includes the hit "Sign of the Times".

When I look at what I've got by the group, I'm sometimes surprised. I have 10 (!) of their albums. I don't have their first EP, nor their 3 most recent albums. But I have everything in between, including their Greatest Hits. Operation: Mindcrime is what got me started listening to them, though I think I prefer some of the songs in Empire. I also like the aforementioned "Sign of the Times".

Wow, you really like them!

I haven't heard their songs in a long time. Great band, Papa.

I've been listening to Gotye lately. My son showed me his Youtube video of "Somebody I that I Used to Know" a few weeks ago and I've been hooked ever since. I really love this song.

Tacky Tunes

Post by PapaMouse »

I actually have 3 similar CDs, all with similar alliterative titles: Dumb Ditties, Silly Songs, and Tacky Tunes. This one includes such songs as:
Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh by Allen Sherman
Beans In My Ears by the Serendipity Singers
Haunted House by Jumpin' Gene Simmons (not the guy from KISS)
Loving You Has Made Me Bananas by Guy Marks.

I came into the house singing along with that last one one time. (This was about 20 years ago.) MamaMouse said "No it didn't. You were bananas long before you started loving me."

Lol..how funny! Your lady sure had a sense of humor. :D

I've never heard of any of these songs. Perhaps you could find a Youtube link? I've love to hear them especially the Beans in My Ears and of course, you going bananas. :D

I've fallen in love with her songs. Her smoky voice and lyrics make it irresistible to keep from listening to them all day long. When her songs come on the truck radio, I roll the windows down and sing at the top of my voice. Who cares what the other people think at red lights!!! :)

I can't believe you've never heard "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh". But here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jjiWS__Mp0

:P :P

Once I heard muddah faddah, I remembered some comedy skits with the song. I think Johnny Carson did one and it was hilarious.

The Bananas song is really fun. I especially love how he starts with "your red scarf matches your eyes!" :682: Hmmm, does that mean she "imbibed" a bit too many rum soaked bananas before their date??..

Do you have plans for Labor Day or do you have to work?
