Uploading LPs...

Post by PapaMouse »

I've been uploading LPs to my computer, and recently came across one that I don't think I've ever even played before. MamaMouse bought it for me when the library was selling off some of their older stuff. It's called Starring the Young Rascals, and it has 4 songs by them, along with 2 each from The Four Seasons, Johnny Rivers, and a group from Omaha, called The Buggs.

This LP is old enough (in case the "Young Rascals" and the Four Seasons being listed without the "Frankie Valli and..." wasn't enough of a clue) that the address for the record company says it is in New York 19, NY. (Look Ma! No ZIP code.)

The curious thing for me is the fact that it says The Young Rascals "burst onto the popular music scene...during the summer of 1965." And yet it lists their ages as what they would have been in 1964. (Felix Cavaliere, 22 [born in 1942], Dino Danelli, 20 [born in 1944], Eddie Brigati, 19 [born in 1945],... You get the idea.) So I'm thinking this LP was released in 1965, though it doesn't say. What's really odd is that I've never heard any of these songs anywhere else.

Oh, yeah. The Buggs. Never heard of The Buggs? Their biggest-selling album (i.e., their ONLY album) was called The Beetle Beat, which had covers of Beatle songs, and a few originals. Their 2 songs on this LP show that they were a competent band, but nothing special. Probably why you've never heard of them.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

That sounds like something really special, especially with a great story like that!

It sounds like a rare record for sure, one to look after :D

I thought I knew the Rascals pretty well, but those are pretty obscure.
