Salter, Richard (12th November 1943-1st February 2009)

He is a baritone born Richard Jeffrey Salter in Hindhead, Surrey, who was a founder member of the King’s Singers in 1968 and left them in 1969 to continue a solo music career after being awarded a Richard Tauber Scholarship in Vienna.

He became an operatic singer and sang in Germany for over 20 years.  He appeared on many German operatic and classical albums including Leider and Beethoven: Songs from the British Isles.

He died in Karlsruhe, Germany in 2009 when he was 65 years old.
