MFSB was a pool of more than thirty studio musicians based at Philadelphia's famed Sigma Sound Studios. The Three Degrees has always been a trio, though 15 women have represented the group.

Vic Mizzy wrote the theme, but the production company didn't want to pay singers to record it. So Mr Mizzy recorded all three parts, singing a trio with himself, and himself.
