Disney Girls

(Bruce Johnston)

This nostalgic song was penned by Bruce Johnston for inclusion on The Beach Boys’ 1971 LP, Surf’s Up.  Bruce multi-tasked on the track, singing lead and playing keyboards, mandolin and moog bass.  It was first performed live at Carnegie Hall in New York on 24th September 1971.

The tune has since been covered by Captain & Tennille, Doris Day, Cass Elliott, Art Garfunkel, the Medium Wave Band and Alexander Rybak.  Bruce did a solo version of it on his 1977 LP, Going Public.  Other albums on which it appears include:  Greatest Hits, Volume Three:  The Best of the Brother Years 1970-1986, Platinum Collection:  Sounds of Summer Edition, Summer Crush:  Songs We Love to Love and The Warmth of the Sun by the Beach Boys; My Heart by Doris Day; and, No Boundaries by Alexander Rybak.
