Johnson, Alberto Facanha

He is a violinist born in Salvador, Brazil, who took his first studies in Sao Paulo and was a soloist by the time he was 10 years old. He won a scholarship to the International Menuhin Music Academy and went to Switzerland to take his studies with Yehudi Menuhin and others when he was 18. He went on to study further in Argentina, England and Spain and performed in Italy at the invitation of the Music Association of Pesaro.

He has attended the University of Cologne in Germany and performed with the Amadeus Quartet. He has also performed with several Brazilian orchestras.

In the 1990s he wass a member of the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, performed with the Concertgebuow in Dallas and Amseterdam and in 1997 was a member of the Dutch Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, often working with Groot Omrosepkoor and touring Australia, Singapore and several European countries with them.

Alberto is also a professor and one of his pupils was his nephew, Filipe Johnson, who is now a violinist in his own right.
