Miller, Miamon

He is a violinist, violist, artistic, music director, arranger, composer, teacher and specialist in Eastern European folk music born in Los Angeles, California.

He studied ethnomusicology and composition at UCLA and later would follow that with a Fulbright grant into the research of Romanian music in 1976.

In 1970 he became a member of the Aman Folk Ensemble and in his thirteen years with them held the positions of musician, artistic director and music director.

His adeptness in musical genres that range from klezmer to flamenco to jazz have ensured his demand as a musician and he and his Miamon Miller Music has been called upon to appear on the  soundtracks of movies, or in the movies themselves as a musician in films such as Heartbreakers, The Match, Seven Swans and View From the Bridge: Stories from Kosovo.

He has also worked on music for television and appeared in acclaimed venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Getty Museum and the Greek Theater.

Artists he has worked with in concert and/or in the recording studio include Valeriu Apan, Ruth Barrett, Mick Moloney, Cynthia Smith and Joemy Wilson who he has recorded several albums with.

In the field of musical education he held summer Romanian folk violin workshops for over 15 years at the East European Folklife Center and continues to hold them at other venues around the United States.
