Briese, Denise

Double bassist who obtained a Master of Arts degree in Bass Viol and became a member of Con Gioia, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Recordings on which she has appeared include: Bionic by Christina Aguilera; Chamber Maid: The Baroque Tribute to Led ZeppelinGhetto Hymns by Dave Hollister; Jerry’s Boys and Simply Sondheim by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles; Late Registration by Kanye West; Maiden’s Prayer by Lisa Lynne and Roland de Lassus: La Cortesia by Ensemble De’ Medici.

She can also be heard on the soundtracks of CamelotLove HappensTwisted, and The Uninvited.

On 6th March 2011, Con Gioia and Michael Maniaci appeared at the Reisch Residence in San Marino, California, where they interpreted works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Giulio Caccini, George Frideric Handel, Nicola Porpora, Henry Purcell, and Barbara Strozzi.

Denise and Dusan Bogdanovic, Nmon Ford-Livene and James Newton gave the world premiere of Bogdanovic’s “Crow” (for bass, flute, guitar and voice) at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

In the field of music education, she has taught at the University of California-Riverside and the University of Redlands.
