O’Neill, Robin

Bassoonist, conductor and music director who was voted one of the BBC Young Musicians of the Year in 1978.

In 2000, he made his conducting debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra of London at the Rimini Festival.  He has also conducted A Soldier’s Tale by Igor Stravinsky, including a 2004 production with Jeremy Irons, and a 2006 production with the backing of Kevin Spacey, at the Old Vic.

Other groups he has conducted include the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic, the City of London Sinfonia, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa Japan, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.

He has served as principal conductor of Orchestra Citta Aperta, L’Quila, Italy, principal bassoon of Endymion, the ECO and the Philharmonia, and music director of The Motion Group.  Other groups with whom he has worked include the Gaudier Ensemble and the London Winds.
