Achenbach, Stephan

Violinist born in Friedrichschafen, Germany, who studied in his home town before moving on to take further education at the Vorarlberg Conservatoryand the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.  He completed his chamber studies with the Vienna String Sextet and the Vienna Schubert Trio.

He has been member of Eufonia Duo Wien with Shamita Achenbach-Konig and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 8th November 2011, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra teamed up with the Eroica Trio for a performance of “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) by Beethoven at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.  The concert concluded with “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73” by Johannes Brahms.  They reprised this program at Lincoln Center in New York on 14th November 2011.

The night before the Vienna Symphony Orchestra were also at Lincoln Center for a performance of “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, with Lise de la Salle at the keys, and “Symphony No. 7 in A major” by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Recordings on which Stephan appears include Duos for Violin and Cello and Meisterwerke des Barocks und Klassik fur Violine und Violoncello with Eufonia Duo Wien.
