Ackerman, Will (1949-Present)

He is a composer, guitarist and producer who has played the guitar since around the age of 12.  He first worked as a carpenter with his own company but continued to work with music and composed for theatre productions for Stanford University.

His first album The Search for the Turtle’s Navel was recorded after the encouragement of his friends and met with enough success that allowed him to concentrate on music on a full time basis.

He works from Windham Hill Studios by performing and recording himself, or producing albums for other artists that include Alex de Grassi and George Winston.  He is credited with being a factor in the rise of acoustic guitar music as a popular form from the 1970s and 1980s.
