Alberman, David (1959-Present)

He is a violinist, concertmaster and teacher born in London, England who studied at the Royal Academy of Music followed by private tuition in Cologne. He left music to attend Oxford to study Philosophy and Classical Languages but returned to it 4 years later.

He performed as a concertmaster for the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under the conductorship of Sir Georg Solti and Claudio Abbado and in 1986 became a member of the Arditti Quartet , staying with them until 1994.

He and the piano virtuoso, Rudolf Hind, formed a duo in 1995 and they have given recitals in all of the major European cities. He appears as Principal Violinist and occasional concertmaster for the London Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest concertmaster for the London Sinfonietta, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia 21 among others.   He retired from the LSO in 2023 after 25 years.

As a soloist he has performed with orchestras including the National Orchestra of Wales and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra and as a chamber musician he has performed with ensembles such as the London Sinfonietta and the Razumovsky and Nash Ensembles.

His work on film has seen him as a performer in the 1998 Le Violon Rouge. Aside from his performing career he is a teacher and guest Professor of New String Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London .
