Alpert, Herb (31st March 1935-Present)

He is a trumpeter, producer and artist born in Los Angeles who became a member of the Tijuana Brass and during the 1960s and 1970s they were recognised for having made Latino music popular.

He became a popular artist in his own right and saw chart hits with songs that include “Rise” and “Route 101 “. He is in the Guinness Book of Records for having five albums in the Billboard Charts simultaneously and is the only star to have No. 1 hits with a vocal and an instrumental song.

He is the “A” of A&M records and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He still plays the trumpet but devotes time to his second career as an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor as well as being a Broadway theatre producer.
