Arnold, Jonathan

He is a bass/baritone singer who undertook his musical studies at the Royal Academy of Music and Oxford University.

Since becoming a professional singer and debuting at London’s Purcell Room in 2002, he has been heard as a soloist with a whole host of ensembles and orchestras from the UK and Europe. These include the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Symphony Orchestra, the Gabrieli Players, the Hilliard Ensemble, the London Mozart Players, Nottingham Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra di Commnunidad de Madrid, Oxford Camerata, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Seville Baroque Orchestra, Sinfonia Chorale, The Sixteen, St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir and The Tallis Scholars.

Often performing in operatic roles, he has been heard at venues such as the Barbican in London, the Bastille Opera House in Paris, the New Chamber Opera and Opera Brava in productions of works by Britten, Dvorak, Purcell and Monteverdi among others.

Other performances and recitals he has given include Faure’s Requiem, Allegri’s Miserere, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Mozart’s Mass in C and Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcellae.

He has also appeared on several recordings such as Purcell’s Ode to Cecilia with Philippe Herwegghe Collegium Vocale, Above the Stars with Fretwork and Dvorak’s Mass in D with St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir to name a few.
