Barber, Ann

She is a cellist who was a long standing member of the Philharmonia Orchestra for many years, often playing as a soloist.

In 2006 she was a member of the Soloists of the Philharmonia who gave a performance of works by Haydn, Mendelssohn and Dvorak at the West London Synagogue.

After playing in many concerts with the Philharmonia Orchestra she retired after the orchestra’s 65thBirthday Gala Concert under the leadership of Riccardo Muti, where he acknowledged her last performance with them.

No stranger to the recording studio, she performed on Pie Jesu by Denise Leigh and the soundtracks of Big Country and Lawrence of Arabia with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Relatively Complete Symphonic Recording of Les Miserables.

Anne features here when Riccardo Muti discusses his time and prepares for his 65th Birthday Gala Performance with the Philharmonia Orchestra…
