Barnacle, Gary (1955-Present)

He is a saxophonist, flautist and arranger for brass instruments born in Dover, England.

In his professional career he was briefly a member of the electro-pop duo, Leisure Process, but has been primarily a session musician who quickly became highly sought over and worked with many of the popular artists that were active during the 1980s and 1990s including The Beautiful South, Rick Astley, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Jamiroquai. Paul Hardcastle, Public Image Ltd., Pet Shop Boys, Kim Wilde, Tim Finn, Belouis Some , Tina Turner, Bjork, Carlene Carter, Phil Collins, ABC and The Ruts.

He was a regular member of Level 42 from 1981 and has featured on several of their albums as well as forming the Henpecked Horns for their horn section.  He was also with The Clash where he performed for solo on “1-2 Crush on You” and appeared on two of their albums, and Swing Out Sister where he appeared with the Henpecked Horns. He would later record the song “A Way You’ll Never Be” with the Level 42 members Phil Gould and Mark King .

He is known for his work with Stock Aitken Waterman in their studios and has appearing on at least 200 albums during his career.  He released his solo album, Paradise, in 2002.
