Baun, Nancy

She is a cellist, teacher and record producer born in Pennsylvania, who took her musical studies in Philadelphia with Menahem Pressler and Jasha Brodsky among others.

As a co-founder of the Eaken Piano Trio with John Eaken , she recorded nine albums, toured Europe, Canada and the United States, and gave over 1000 performances over thirteen years before leaving them in the latter half of the 1990s.

As a soloist she has gained much recognition and has made appearances with many orchestras in Pennsylvania, the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and the Ravel Trio, and has been made an Artist Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and the Bach Aria Institute.

Very much involved in musical education she has been with the Dickinson College since the mid 1990s as their Director of the Artists-In-Residence program, and gives many workshops to all age groups on the integration of painting and classical music under such titles as Have You Ever Listened To a Drawing?

As a radio and record producer she has been the executive producer of the Eaken Piano Trio’s Home for the Holidays which was broadcast annually on Public Radio, is the president and artistic director of Catalpa Records, and has also been awarded the WQXR radio award in 2000.

Other posts she has also held are as an arts consultant and conference panellist.
