Birdwell, Edward (20th April 1936-26th January 2018)

He was a horn player and musical consultant/director born in Houston, Texas who studied at the University of Texas, Tanglewood and the University of Houston.  He performed his military service with the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.

During his busy career he performed with the American Symphony Orchestra from 1959 to 1976, Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1981 to 1983,New York City Ballet Orchestra from 1964 to 1976, Seattle Symphony Orchestra , Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra from 1978 to 1981 and was a member of the American Brass Quintet for several years from 1965 to 1976, appearing on several of their recordings.

He became a deputy director at Carnegie Hall in 1976 , an executive director of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra in 1978 as assistant orchestra manger of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1981 and was also managing director of the Seattle Symphony.

He died in November 2017 when he was 81 years old.
