Blackwood Jr., R.W.

He is a gospel singer raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and the son of the acclaimed musician and singer R.W. Blackwood Sr. After the death of his father he became one of the Blackwood Brothers and sang and toured with them from 11 years old.

Known as the lead singer for the Blackwood Brothers Quartet and the co-owner with his wife of the Blackwood Singers, he has appeared singing alongside many acclaimed artists over the years including Roy Rogers, Ronnie Milsap and his family friend, Elvis Presley .  In 2010 he handed over the lead position with The Blackwood Quartet to his cousin Mark Blackwood.

Making numerous appearances on radio and television he has been featured on Daystar, TBN and as a regular on Bill Gaither’s Homecoming videos. The Blackwood Singers can be regularly heard in Variety shows.

He has been heard on many single releases and the Blackwood Singers and Blackwood Brothers have recorded over 200 albums, received 8 Grammy Awards, 27 Dove Awards and have been Gospel Hall of Fame members since 1998.
