Blair, Dallas

He is a trumpeter, singer, composer, arranger and teacher who became a resident of Saint Louis, Missouri, when he took on the position of Assistant Professor of Music at the Missouri Baptist College in 1986. After having stayed there for a year he left to pursue other opportunities and became a co-founder and composer-in-residence, of the Arch Brass Quintet , which became known throughout the United States with their regular touring schedules.

Heavily involved with the church and it’s music, he has been the Director of Music at the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, Illinois, and his compositions are so highly thought of that many of the churches in and around Saint Louis have commissioned him to write pieces for them, later followed by churches from other states such as Georgia and Tennessee. His compositions and arrangements have been extensively published and include the four-volume Hymn Introduction and Descant for Trumpet and Organ.

As an arranger he has worked with the Compton Heights Band and as a trumpeter he has been heard performing with the Mighty Mississippi Concert Band of St. Louis and since 2010 has been a member of the Edwardsville Municipal Band.  Carrying on his work in education he has taught trumpet at the Washington University, Saint Louis and also given private tuition.
