Bradshaw, Steven

Countertenor, tenor and composer who attended The Academy of Vocal Arts and Westminster Choir College before embarking on a career as a chorister and soloist.

As a member of the Opera Company of Philadelphia, he appeared in a production of L’enfantprodigue on 7th March 2004.  On 30th October 2005, he helped his alma mater by performing in a benefit concert for the Westminster College of the Arts.  He was also a member of the Ama Deus Ensemble, who recorded Verdi’s Requiem in 2007.  In January 2008, he was a founder member of the Crossing Choir who sang in concert with the Renaissance ensemble, Piffaro.  Then he assisted The Philadelphia Singers in celebrating their 35th anniversary with their rendition of Mozart’s “Vesperae Solennes di Confessore”.

From 30th April through 1st June 2008, he was the featured tenor in The Wilma Theater’s production of Sarah Ruhl’s stageplay, Eurydice.  He ended the year reuniting with Piffaro for a Christmas concert, courtesy of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia.  In 2009, he appeared on Piffaro’s CD, Vespers.  He also took part in his other alma mater’s celebration, The Academy of Vocal Arts’ Lyric Fest.

In the 2009/2010 season, he participated in the Bach Cantata Series at The Bach Festival of Philadelphia, which included a performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers (All Night Vigil)” in tandem with The Philadelphia Singers.  On 9th May 2010, he sang the tenor parts in Benjamin Britten’s “Rejoice in the Lamb, Op. 30” at the Curtis Institute of Music.  Also in 2010 he appeared on the recording Eurydice by Toby Twining. He is also a member of The Buxtehude Consort and The Laughing Bird quartet.

In 2016 he performed on The Fifth Century by Gavin Bryar and also the album Bonhoeffer – A Choral-Theater Piece.
