Burton, Barry “Byrd” (1946-10th March 2008)

He started his career when he was asked by Sam Philips to be a session musician at his studios in Memphis. He was an accomplished guitarist and dobroist and joined the band Amazing Rhythm Aces in the early ’70s after they’d asked him to join them on tour when he had played, engineered and produced their Stacked Deck album. He stayed with them until 1977 and was replaced by Duncan Cameron .

He moved to Nashville to be a session musician and a producer. He released a solo album called Byrd Brainz which included tracks written for Amazing Rhythm Aces and Jeff Davis played on bass.

He passed away suffering from leukaemia in 2008.
