Chance, Barry (1955-2nd May 2010)

He was a guitarist born in Nashville, Tennessee, whose father was the Grand Old Opry’s staff bassist Floyd “Lightnin'” Chance who has been termed one of the most recorded in bassist history.  His son Jayson is now following in the same footsteps as a guitarist and producer.

In his professional career he has played with many acclaimed artists that include being a member of Barefoot Jerry and Jimmy Buffett & his Coral Reefer Band over a period of 14 years.

Recordings he has appeared on include Somewhere Under the Rainbow by Joe Stampley, Love Letters From My Heart by Jim Cartwright, Live At Billy Bob’s Texas by Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley, Barefootin’ and Keys to the Country by Barefoot Jerry, Everyone’s Got a Family, Meet Mine by Johnny Paycheck and You Had To Be There, Volcano, Coconut Telegraph, Somewhere Over China and Boats, Beaches Bars & Ballads by Jimmy Buffett .

After a prolonged illness he passed away on 2nd March 2010 when he was 55 years old.

Here plays acoustic and electric guitar on “Elvis Imitators” by Jimmy Buffett…
