Choo, Soong (1974-Present)

He is a violinist, violist, music director and teacher born in Busan, South Korea, who moved to London with his family in 1983 when he was 9 years old and started to learn the violin almost as soon as he’d arrived.  He studied at the Purcell School followed y the Royal Academy of Music and Southampton University.  This led to him receiving his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music and is a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM).

He became a member of London Musici while still a student and in 2000 became a First Violin with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.  He has also been involved with play.orchestra which works in collaboration with the orchestra’s website project known as Sound Exchange.  The aim is to involve the public and heighten their awareness of orchestral music and its performance.

As a music director he has led the Korean Chamber Orchestra Ensemble for a concert held at Westminster Abbey College Garden.

In the field of musical education he has been a guest teacher of violin and viola in the Music Department of Edge Grove School based in Aldenham Village, Hertfordshire.

His recordings include James Newton Howard’s soundtrack of Nightcrawler.
