Church, Charlotte (21st February 1986-Present )

She is an operatic, classical and pop singer and TV presenter born Charlotte Maria Reed in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales, and her name was changed when her mother was re-married to James Church.

She got the entertainment bug when she had to be pulled off the stage, because she didn’t want to leave, after she had performed the song “Ghostbusters” at a holiday camp. She appeared on the show Talking Telephone Numbers singing “Pie Jesu” when she was 11 and then stole the TV show Big, Big Talent Show. Soon after, she was asked to perform concerts at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and open for the singer Shirley Bassey.

Her first album Voice of an Angel made her the youngest artist to date to reach No.1. She appeared in many television specials and commercials following this success and then after having released a further two albums she extended her repertoire for the next one, Enchantment, to include Broadway and pop. James Horner asked that she perform the song “All Love Can Be” for the film A Beautiful Mind in the absence of availability of Celine Dion.

In 2003 she migrated from classical music into the pop world and appeared on Jurgen Vries “The Opera Song” which reached No. 3 in the British charts. Tissues and Issues which was her 2005 album was a completely pop album and four singles from there made the Top 20.

As an actress she has appeared in the films I’ll Be There and Bridge of Lies and in the TV series Touched By An Angel, Have I Got News for You and Heartbeat. The Charlotte Church Show began in the summer of 2006 which included celebrity guest interviews, music and comedy sketches. She was awarded with “Best Female Comedy Newcomer” at the British Comedy Awards and Loaded Magazine gave her the “Funniest TV Personality” award.

Seen as a controversial figure on occasion she has been criticized for being drunk, smoking and generally misbehaving. The singer Liam Gallagher is said to have complimented her for her “voice and hell-raising activities”. She has later given her support to the “Little Tee Campaign” to design T-shirts which will provide money for breast cancer research.

She and her partner Gavin Henson had their first child Ruby Megan Henson in 2006 and in 2009 her son Dexter Lloyd Henson was born.  They later went their separate ways in 2010.

In 2010 she released the album Back to Scratch and from 2012 to 2014 she released the eps ONE, TWO. THREE and FOUR.
