Dante, Ron (22nd December 1945-Present)

He is a singer-songwriter and record producer born Carmine Granito in Staten Island, New York who was the lead man in the parody group The Detergents and lead vocalist for the cartoon The Chan Clan.

In 1968 he became a member and lead vocalist of the cartoon group The Archies scoring charts hits with songs including “Bang-Shang-A-Lang ” and “Sugar Sugar”.  At the same time he was recording with The Archies he also recorded with The Cufflinks.  At the same time that “Sugar, Sugar” was No. 1 he also entered the Top 10 with The Cufflinks’  ” Tracy”.  He was anonymous on both songs.

He has also recorded under the name Dante’s Inferno and was a backing vocalist and producer for Barry Manilow from 1973 to 1981.

He received a Tony for his production of Ain’t Misbehavin’ on Broadway.  He still releases albums.
