DeAngelis, Joseph “Joe” (29th July 1934-8th November 2022)

He was a French horn player born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who studied at the Juilliard School.

After his studies he went on to become a much sought after studio musician in the late 1960s who worked with countless artists and ensembles.  He also became a member of Frank Sinatra’s band and toured the world with him.

The countless artists he performed with include Tony Bennett, Judy Collins, Bill Evans, Ron Frangipane, Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Holdridge, Janis Ian, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Carmen McRae, The Stylistics, Swamp Dogg and Irma Thomas.

Recordings he performed on are far too numerous to mention but a small selection of them include Celebrate! by Kool & the Gang, Courage by Milton Nascimento, The Essential O’Jays by The O’Jays, Nice ‘n’ Naasty by The Salsoul Orchestra, Myrmidons of Melodrama by the Shangri-Las, Trilogy: Past, Present & Future by Frank Sinatra , Mighty Love by The Spinners along with countless compilations and Christmas albums.

He died peacefully at home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in November 2022 when he was 88 years old.
