He is a singer-songwriter and harp virtuoso of Italian ancestry born in Painesville, Ohio but a long term resident of Australia.
He came to fame with the song “Shaddap You Face ” in 1980 which became a worldwide success. He is also the writer of the much recorded country/bluegrass song “My Home Ain’t in the Hall of Fame”. His song “Hill of Death” won the 2004 Australian Gospel Songwriting Award for “Best Gospel” and he was a finalist in 2005. That same year he also won the Sonicbids competition for the song “Gift (One Iraqi Child)” which appears on the CD Peace Songs for a Better World and also “Did You Get Stupid from Being Ugly (Or Ugly from Being Stupid?)” which appears on the CD Protest Songs for a Better World. His co-written song “Intimacy” appeared in the film The Terminator and he was the founding member of the music cabaret Difficult Women.
As a classical music composer he composed and orchestrated the one hour oratorio for string orchestra, brass trio and choir Joan on Fire which was premiered buy the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.

In 2016 he was requested to teach Composition and Ensemble at the the Australian Institute of Music.
