Broadway actress, dancer, percussionist and singer who hooked up; and got hitched up; with Bobby Sherwood in the 1960s. She played vibes and drums and sang vocals in his orchestra. They had a Las Vegas stage act together until 1977, performing such staples as “Nice Work If You Can Get It”.
Her Broadway credits included Almost Crazy, The Bells Are Ringing, Can-Can, Pal Joey, and The Vamp. In 1986, she appeared as Sandra in the film The Ladies Club. She also appeared in The Palm Spring Follies in her 60s.
Phyllis and Bobby’s son Billy Sherwood is a musician who has performed as a member of the group Yes.
