Ebo, David (1950-30th November 1993)

He is a singer who was a member of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes from 1976 where he took over lead vocals after the departure of Teddy Pendergrass.  With them he sang lead vocals on their single releases “Hang On In There”, “Praying” and “Reaching For the World”.

After leaving the group following a tour of England in 1982 he pursued his solo career and released the unsuccessful album “I’d Rather Be Myself” in 1986.  The title song, however, became a club hit and later appeared on the album Classic Soul Hits, Vol. 11.

Suffering from bone cancer he passed away in 1993 at just 43 years of age.

Here he is with “I’d Rather Be Myself”…
