Ehlers, Ralf (1971-Present)

He is a violist born in Sao Paulo, Brazil who studied in Brazil, winning the Concurso Sul America in 1989.  After performing concertos and giving recitals all over South America he went to Europe to study.  He became a member of the Pulcinella Quartet, performing throughout Europe, and he also performed with the New Zealand and Emperor String Quartets as well as the Austrian Ensemble for New Music, Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, the Raphael Ensemble and the London Sinfonietta.

He became a member of the Arditti Quartet in 2003 and has given the European premiere of Viola Viola by George Benjamin with the former quartet member, Garth Knox .
