Fels, Lucas (1962-Present)

He is a cellist born in Lorrach, Germany who studied first in Basel and Zurich, with further education in Freiburg, Amsterdam and Florence.

He founded the Ensemble Recherche in 1985, which became an acclaimed modern music group, and in 2004 he joined them with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra to form the Ensemble Academy Freiburg.

He has released more than 30 CDs of his solo and chamber recordings and has given many world premieres by composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Klaus Huber and Sebastian Claren, with several being dedicated to him.

Teaching regularly he has given lessons at the Lviv, Essen, Brno and Lucerne Conservatories and since 1998 has been a lecturer at the Darmstater Ferienkurse.
