Foster, Franklin “Frank”

Violinist, composer, teacher and author born Franklin Delano Foster who took his studies at the Juilliard School of Music, the University  of Southern California and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  He also received a fellowship from Tanglewood which led to him being the concertmaster of the Berkshire Music Center Orchestra.

He has appeared with many orchestras and ensembles including being principal second violin with the Spring Opera Orchestra and been a soloist with the Diablo Valley Symphony, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony.

Alongside performing violin recitals, he has been a freelance musician which has seen him performing with artists and ensemble involved in television and film music.  He has also performed with many artists in concert and in the recording studio.  Some of these include Luciano Pavarotti, Michael Tilson Thomas, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Lalo Schifrin and Frank Sinatra among others.

He has performed on several albums with just a few of them including his own Alone and Two’s Company as well as Modern Man by Stanley Clarke, Dream On by George Duke, Sunbeam by The Emotions, Ride like the Wind by Freddie Hubbard, Welcome Home by Carole King, Every Generation by Ronnie Laws, We Meet Again by Martha Reeves, Patrice by Patrice Rushen, Trilogy  by Frank Sinatra’s and Fly with the Wind by McCoy Tyner.

In musical education he has taught at a studio at Dana Point, California, as well as doing online tuition.  He is also an author of novelettes and science fiction.
