Franssen, Frederick (1977-Present)

He is a French horn player who entered the Maastricht Conservatory of Music in 1995 and studied the horn and orchestral conducting.

In 1996 he officially founded the Harmony Youth Wind Rosamici which has the aim of providing training and guidance to young musicians.  Originally it was started it with a group of about five friends who were all musicians and as more friends joined the group they moved from Frederick’s kitchen to the garage.  The group that are still playing now rehearse in a local pub where there is more room.  The role of conductor passed to Ludo Royen once Frederick’s career started to expand.

Aside from his studies he worked was the leader of both a student orchestra and a youth orchestra and had occasional jobs as a teacher.  He has continued with these activities since leaving his studies.  He graduated from the Conservatory in 2002 with distinction as a specialist in chamber music, as a soloist and in Baroque.

Since starting his career as a professional musician he has worked with the Rundfun Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, been an intern at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and been a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

In 2000 he took a position of French horn player with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra and 5 years later he took the same position in the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.  He also gives performances of jazz, light and film music.
