Friedlander, Fowler (14th October 1921-22nd May 2004)

Bassoonist who born in New York, who started out as  a classical musician, appearing in concert with John Cage at the Hunter College Playhouse in New York, New York, on 12th May 1946.  The program consisted of typically quirky Cage compositions such as “Root of an Unfocus” and “Tossed as it is Untroubled”, as well as works of Erik Satie and Alan Hovhaness.

He relocated to California where he was a member of the Los Angeles Civic Light Orchestra for 47 years. and appears on Frank Sinatra’s 1979 Trilogy and Doris Day’s Que Sera, Sera, among others

He passed away in Santa Monica, California in 2004 when he was 82 years old.
