He is a bass player born in Blufield, West Virginia, growing up in Lewisburg, who attended Potomac State College followed by the University of West Virginia. It was here he began to perform on the bassoon and bass and became a member of Problems of Democracy.
He relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1979 and became a member of The Reflectors as well as Vietnam. In 1982 he joined up with The Swimming Pool Qs who he still periodically appears with.
He became a member of the group Atlanta Rhythm Section in 1989 and performed with them until 1992.
