Goodyear, Stewart (1978-Present)

He is a pianist and composer born in Toronto, Canada, who studied at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto, obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and his master’s from the Juilliard School.

He has appeared as a soloist and with many orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Youngstown Symphony, the Spartanburg Philharmonic, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.  Also appearing at several music festivals he has taken part in the Mozart Effect festival.

As a composer he has been commissioned by several orchestras and has premiered his own works such as Callaloo for piano and orchestra with the MDR Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig.  His Piano Quartet was commissioned by the Kingston Chamber Music Festival with the performance being given by the Clarosa Quartet.  Several Canadian orchestras and the Nathaniel Dett Chorale have also premiered his works.  Some of his other compositions include Go Down Death, August and Caribbiana.
