Graham, Robin L.

French horn player who was still attending Julliard when she auditioned for the Houston Symphony and became their Principal Horn and the youngest member of their ranks, the first woman to win such a position with a major symphony orchestra in the U.S.

She went on to serve in the same capacity with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and made several recordings with them, including Baby Needs Beethoven, Baby Needs Mozart, and Handel:  Water Music.

Robin also spent eighteen years as the Principal Horn for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, appearing on a number of recordings by the Cincinnati Pops, including The Great Fantasy Adventure Album, The Magical Music of Disney, and Puttin’ on the Ritz:  The Great Hollywood Musicals.

Other artists and groups with whom she has collaborated include the Accademia String Quartet, the American String Quartet, the Dorian Wind Quintet, the Guarneri Quartet, the Ligeti Trio, Rosalind Rees, and Frank Sinatra.

Robin has taught French horn at the California Institute of the Arts School of Music, and has also taught at the International Women’s Brass Conference.
