He is a guitarist, steel guitarist and engineer born in Temple, Texas who began his professional career playing the guitar when he was fifteen years old.
By the time he was 21 he had made his debut as a steel guitarist with the Big “D” Jamboree and moved to Nashville and since then has been much in demand as a session musician. Lending his services to many acclaimed artists he has performed with acts such as Lynn Anderson, Jimmy Buffett, Buzz Cason, Dr. Hook, England Dan & John Ford Coley, George Jones, Frankie Laine, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Dan Seals, Tiny Tim and Randy Travis.
In the 1970s he joined up with Jimmy Buffett & his Coral Reefer Band and has extensively toured and recorded many albums with them including A White Sport Coat & A Pink Crustacean, Living and Dying in 3/4 Time, Havana Daydreamin’ Far Side of the World and Somewhere Over China. Other albums he has featured on include Always & Forever and Inspirational Journey by Randy Travis, Nights Are Forever by England Dan & John Ford Coley, Won’t Be Blues Anymore and Best by Dan Seals, My Very Special Guests by George Jones, Sweet Revenge by John Prine and My Kind of Country by Reba McEntire.
Recognised in music he was a 1986 finalist for the CMA “Instrumentalist of the Year” Award. He has his own studio in Fairview, Tennessee and also co-runs Gulf Stream Music -BMI.
