Guth, Roger

He is a drummer, pianist and singer-songwriter nicknamed “Scotch” who grew up close to St. Louis, Missouri, on a farm and later moved to Nashville.  While still only ten years old he would play in his father’s band and this would give him the grounding he needed to take a career in music.

From 1989 he has been a member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and has worked as a musician or songwriter with many other artists that include Mose Allison, Herb Ellis, Peter Mayer, PM and Vanessa Williams.

No stranger to the recording studio he can be heard on albums such as his own releases Scotch and Cowboy Ballet and also The Sweetest Days by Vanessa Williams, Word of Mouth by Mac McAnally, Green Eyed Radio and Romeo’s Garage by Peter Mayer, Banana Wind, Beach House on the Moon, Feeding Frenzy and Off to See the Lizard by Jimmy Buffett, Forever Tams by The Tams, Margaritaville: Late Night Live by Club Trini, Red Wine and Lemonade and Street of Dreams by PM and the soundtracks of Hoot and Arachnophobia.

As a songwriter he has co-written “Moonlight Over Paris” by Vanessa Williams and the hit single “Piece of Paradise” by PM.

Here he is playing drums with PM on their “Piece of Paradise”…
