Hartig, Julija

Violinist from Yugoslavia who began her studies when she was five years old and went on to attend the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where she was a member of Camerata Academica.

On 29th May 1993, she helped premiere Ivana Stefanovic’s third string quartet at Belgrade’s CvijetaZuzoric Art Pavilion.  She moved to The Netherlands in 1994 furthered her education at the Rotterdam and Utrecht conservatories.  Felipe Waller dedicated De jaque, sal gala y luna (Hommage to Pedro Infante) to her and she performed it in 1999.

In 2000, she became first violin with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic and she has also performed with Hungry Gods, the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, and The Raduga Ensemble.  The Hungry Dogs contributed one track to the CD compilation, November Music 2003.  She has also worked in duos with Hans Broek, Reinecke Broekhans, Boris Cicovacki, and NatalijaMladenovic.

On 18th March 2009, she performed in a program of music composed by Llubica Maric at the Belgrade Philharmonics Hall.  Llubica’s music was also the focus of a recital on 11th April at the Gallery of Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences.  Other highlights from 2009 included a celebration of composer Vojislav Vukovic’s 100th birthday, a Golden Globes award, a performance of “Operator” by Florian Mayer and “Violin Concerto” by Leos Janacek, and an appearance at the Temple Air Show.

Radio Television Serbia issued 4 CD collection of complete works by the composer Ljubica Maric in 2010 where she performs the violin solos and some chamber music.

Julija is also an active member of Splendor Amsterdam, an artistic collective whose hard work and passion is manifest in the conversion of a blighted building into a like-new cultural mecca located in Holland’s capital.
