Haydu, Colin

He is a musician and teacher who received his Masters degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Texas in the late 1980s.  He also performed in the university’s concert band in 1988-9 season.

Active in the Calgary, Alberta, he has performed with countless ensembles such as the Eric Friedenberg Orchestra, the Dave Jones Big Band, Vad Ensemble and various show bands on international cruise liners.

In the recording studio he has performed as a trombonist on the album Prairie Brass: Brass Music by Roger Deegan and he has been credited as playing the euphonium with the Edmonton Wind Ensemble on their recording Snake Fence Country.

In the field of musical education he has been a faculty member of Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta, taught in the Golden Hills Schools Division in Strathmore, Alberta, been Assistant Principal at Lord Beaverbrook High School and been a Music Director of the Calgary Arts Summer School.
