Helasvuo, Sonja

She is a violinist and violist born in Helsinki, Finland, who studied with Geza Szilvay and Paivyt Rajamaki before moving to the Netherlands in 1993 to take further studies at the Conservatory of Rotterdam followed by the Conservatory of Utrecht, where her studies led her to the “Pedagogy for Young Talents” course at Joyce Tan from 2004 to 2006.  She also studied Baroque music and attended classes with Antoinette Lohmann as well as various masterclasses.

She has gone on to perform as a freelance musician and played with several ensembles as well as the Gelders Orchestra, the Holland Sinfonia and the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra among others.

In the field of musical education she has been a private teacher in Amsterdam and Rotterdam and has played music for children and adults at the Amsterdam Music Store since 2007.  She has also been involved in music workshops.

She has also worked with the singer, guitarist and composer Lonny Ziblat,the singer Paulina May amd Solex + M.A.E.
