He is a tenor who was a member of The Philadelphia Singers and appeared with them on their holiday recording Gloria! Gloria in 1987.
He has since appeared in several operatic productions including Porgy and Bess staged by Opera North in 1988 and Dido and Aeneus staged with Pennsylvania Pro Musica in 1995. He debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in the role of Menelas in Die Agypytische Helena and has since gained a large repertoire in many productions staged in various international opera houses.
His portrayal of Lennie Small in Of Mice and Men led to him being awarded Washington National Opera’s Artist of the Year at the Kennedy Center in 2001. He later performed that role again with the Manitoba Opera in 2016.
His national and international performances amount to many but just a few of them include the title roles in Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saens in Rome and Parsifal by Wagner in Brazil and La clemenza di Tito by Mozart in Washingon, Erik in Der Fliegende Hollander by Wagner in Mexico City, Paul in Die Tote Stadt by Korngold in Nancy, Midas in Die Liebe der Danae by Strauss in Amsterdam, Laca in Jenufa by Janacek in Malaga and Bilbao, Zhivny in Osud by Janacek in New York, Count Vaudemont in Iolanta by Tchaikovsky in New York, Levko in May Night by Rimsky-Korsakov in Sarasota and Shuisky in Boris Gudonuv in Milwaukee.
He has been a soloist in concerts and festivals in countries that include France, Brazil and the United States and as been the solo tenor on Das Lied von der Erde by Mahler and Requiem by Verdi.
In musical education he has worked as a voice teacher.
