Henry, Michael

He is a tenor and conductor born in Kentucky who studied at the Baylor and Murray State Universities.

Singing as a soloist and chorus member he sang “My Old Kentucky Home” in the bicentennial celebrations at the Kennedy Center and has also performed with John Jacobs Niles.

During the 1990s he performed concerts and recorded with several of the ensembles put together by the conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Robert Shaw.  During his time with Robert Shaw he was a soloist with the Atlanta Symphony in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem, appeared at workshops held in Carnegie Hall and sang a solo on an NPR broadcast of Mass in B Minor by J.S. Bach in 1998.

Also in the 1990s he was a member of the Michael O’Neal Singers and gave many performances as a soloist with them.  He joined the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville in 1992 and has served as their Director of Music working with their various choirs and musicians.
