Lucas, Reggie (25th February 1953-19th May 2018)

He was an American musician, songwriter and record producer whose early career was as a jazz guitarist with Miles Davis and Norman Connors in the early 1970s.

He met James Mtume while touring with Miles Davis and they formed a song-writing and production team.  They wrote and produced hits for artists including Stephanie Mills as well as being involved in the band Mtume.  They were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for “Never Knew Love Like This Before”.

As a solo artist he produced works for Madonna and worked with Randy Crawford and the Four Tops.  He was the founder of the Quantum Sound recording studio in New Jersey in the 1980s.

He died on 19th May 2018 when he was 65 years old.
